Proposal to mandate that comic and anime conventions make their policies publicly visible in order to prevent sexual offenders from attending and endangering children
Concerns over the safety of attendees at comic and anime events, especially young ones, have grown in recent years. Outrage and cries for action have been triggered by reports of sexual offenders attending these events and endangering others. To make conventions safer for everyone who attends, a petition has been started to encourage them to make their policy about excluding sexual offenders from attending public.
This project seeks to make conventions responsible for guaranteeing the security and welfare of their participants, particularly children who are at risk. Participants can choose which activities to attend with greater knowledge and safety confidence if these policies are clear and simple to find. This petition also aims to increase awareness of the frequency of sexual offenders at conventions and the necessity of taking preventative action to shield participants from possible danger. It is imperative that conventions emphasize community members' safety and take a stance against sexual offenders.
Sexual predators can now conceal their identities while enticing our kids to join their YouTube and Instagram accounts thanks to social media. A publicized policy prohibiting sexual criminals from attending is at least a deterrent, even though we recognize that conventions are unable to background check everyone. In the event that an offender is discovered attending a conference, the organizers have a protocol in place to have them removed right away and may even turn them over to law enforcement.
In addition to shielding guests from any damage, this proactive strategy makes it clear that the convention takes community safety and well-being seriously. Conventions may establish a safer atmosphere for all attendees and establish a model for future events by putting such measures into place and upholding them. Conventions must actively seek to create a safe atmosphere for all attendees and take a stance against sexual offenders.
