Do Not Drive Endangered Monkeys to Extinction in Singapore

This is an appeal for the relocation of the worksite from the forest into the adjacent Singapore Island Country Club. The eastern end of the nature reserve is a stronghold for the critically endangered Raffles' Banded Langur, a species of monkey which has a population size of only 61 in Singapore. Losing this forest plot would affect their connectivity and gravely impact their numbers. In the 1980s, a population of langurs in Bukit Timah Nature Reserve went extinct after the Bukit Timah Expressway was built, separating the Bukit Timah and Central Catchment nature reserves. The scenario with the Cross Island Line is similar. They are rare, and the only ones we have left. They deserve their habitat, especially when the Cross Island Line has other viable alternatives but the Raffles' Banded Langur and other species of flora and fauna have NONE. We are subjecting them to imminent threat of death and extinction.
