Legislation to require airbags in all commercial trucks

  • We are wanting to create legislation that requires all commercial truck manufacturers to include airbags in all v trucks manufactured. Volvo is the only trucking company that includes these safety measures in all their trucks.
    My Dad was killed in a tractor trailer collision due to negligence of another truck driver  who did not get his disabled vehicle off the road and did not use all saftey precautions to let other trucks know he was in the right lane. Daddy hit him at 65 MPH and injuries sustained were irrepairable damage to his heart and lungs and 90% of facial bones were PULVERIZED.....not broken or crushed.  Had airbags been installed, his outcome might have been different with considerable less damaged. Another car was in the left lane which did not allow him to swerve at the last moment. That's the kind of person he was. He'd rather take a chance on his own life than risk others'. PLease help by signing this petition and contacting all your legislature members and put pressure on to put a law into effect to help give these pro drivers a chance to live! PLease don't let Daddy's death be in vain.

We the undersigned, direct this letter to all commercial truck manufacturers. Drivers on the road professionally deserve the same safety airbag systems required in passenger vehicles. These truckers are on the road for hours and hours...days on end. Do their families deserve the heartache a family goes through at the loss of a loved one due to the lack of these safety features? Do the truck companies deserve to lose a valuable driver because of costs incurred at the installation of these airbags? The lives of these people are more valuable than the costs of installion of these safety features.
