Benefit fraud is still a major issue in the UK, whether you choose to believe it or not. Whether it's faking injuries and disabilities, or claiming child benefit for children that don't even live with you, it happens every day. These people are taking our hard earned money while they sit at home laughing about it. I feel strongly that the government should introduce an enforcement where regular, thourugh checks are made to ensure that people who are claiming benefits, are genuinely entitled to them. Anyone found to be frauding the system in any way, should receive a harsh punishment - either a justified prison sentence, or a fine which equates to the exact amount that they previously received unlawfully.
DISCLAIMER - This is in no way intended to offend or interrogate people on benefits, I understand that the majority are genuine and use the money they get for the reason in which it's intended, however there are also several people who aren't genuine and in my opinion, it needs to be clamped down on.
