After the devastating events on Wednesday evening, as a community more preventative action needs to be taken. The bespoke children's play area, which offered hours of enjoyment has now been completely destroyed by arsonists. The Stroud community are in shock that such mindless vandalism has been carried out, however to local residents surrounding the park; this has not come as a surprise. Over the last few years, the park has become a popular meeting place during the evening and night times. Large groups gather, drink excessively, drug take, use abusive language and litter the playing field. The police have been contacted on many occasions, but very little action has been taken. We feel things need to change, to keep our Park protected and a great place for everyone to enjoy. We are asking for signatures please, so we are able to present our petition to The Police and Stroud District Council. The security needs to be increased, to stop a repeat of recent events.
