448 is the official count of Rhino’s poached in South Africa for the year 2011!
We have now been informed that it is more like 488, that is 1 Rhino de horned or killed every 20 hours!!!
The count for 2010 was 333 Rhino’s and somewhere in the high 180’s for the year 2009!
With only just over 5000 of these majestic creatures left, it is totally ridiculous that not more is being done about this.
Just last year one of our provinces issued permits to cull 23 rhino’s at a price!
Now that is completely outrageous! The fact that we losing Rhino’s to poaching at such an alarming rate could we not of relocated them?
Or is it all about the money?
It seems all petitions in the past have fallen on deaf ears so this time it’s to the President of South Africa “Jacob Zuma”, you can make the difference!
We have a massive defence force, let’s put them to use, it’s our tax money and heritage after all!
Let’s get ten signatures for every Rhino left in South Africa. It’s not too much to ask and its shows we care a wee bit. Or would you rather tell your grandchildren to go to the museum to see these majestic animals now extinct!
Oh wait a minute, we still had some of those ten years ago. How foolish would we sound,
what a nasty species we are!
So 50 000 signatures it is then! Do the right thing!
