Better background checks along with regular mental health checks for gun owners

In the US the amount of gun violence has sky rocketed resulting in more and more deaths related to the issue. The US has made it way too easy for people to get guns, so people with mental health issues can still get a gun, people with histories of violence can still get a gun. Better background checks and stricter regulations of those checks along with regular mental health checks for gun owners would hopefully lower the rate of mass shootings and school shootings.
