300 Remaining Wolverines Need Protection, NOW!

Only 300 wolverines remain in the lower 48 states of the USA!

Add your name if you believe they deserve endangered species protection, before they're gone forever.

"In the lower 48 states, there are believed to be only some 300 wolverines left, and the Rocky Mountains are one of their few remaining American homes," reported The Atlantic.

Let that sink in... Only 300 are left.

I know you can understand how little it would take for them to disappear forever.

In 2014, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service refused to acknowledged science indicating that these precious animals were dwindling, according to a lawsuit put forward by conservationists.

How stupid can they be?!

In 2016, an awesome Federal Judge, Dana Christensen, "said the Fish and Wildlife Service reversed its initial stance in an "arbitrary and capricious" way under "immense political pressure" put on it by the states and industries that could face regulations were the animal protected."

He "rejected the Fish and Wildlife Service's decision to deny wolverines' protection under the Endangered Species Act, as Reuters reported. The agency has now been ordered to reconsider its conclusions," reported USA Today.

What an awesome wildlife hero!

Unfortunately, they only had to "reconsider" their decision. As it stands, wolverines are still not treated as an endangered species in the lower 48.

And things are getting worse for these helpless creatures.

With so few remaining, inbreeding is becoming an issue.

Occasionally, they are caught in traps meant for other animals, and in 2016 a rancher foolishly shot a wolverine on his property - it was the first one killed in North Dakota in 150 years... That particular animal was being tracked by scientists in order to learn more about the species.

What consequences did that rancher suffer? None.

It's time we take strong action to protect wolverines in the lower 48 states.

If we don't help them now, they will likely soon be gone forever.

Senator Bernie Sanders has been a long-term advocate for animal rights, and has co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation to protect endangered species, as well as to combat animal cruelty.

That's why we're asking him to lead a movement in Congress that would take discretion away from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and protected wolverines as a protected species in the lower 48, no matter what.

Don't you want to help the last 300 wolverines remaining in the continental USA?

Then add your name to ask Senator Sanders to draft legislation that would make wolverines an endangered species in the lower 48 states, before they disappear forever!
