End Kill Shelters and promote TNR for cats

Animal kill shelters are euthanizing thousands of cats/dogs every day. In fact, as you sit here and read this, at least 142 healthy animals are being euthanized right now. Why? Because some questionable politicians made it a city or state ordinance to ban cats or dogs from running the streets. Dogs are not as much of an issue with finding homes, but some do need a little longer to find that home. After working in a no-kill shelter for 15 years, trust me, the dogs find homes. Our problem is cats. Why is it Raccoons, Oppossums, Coyotes, Deer, Squirrels, etc., are allowed to run free, but cats are not?

All animals have a right to live, just as humans do. Humans have domesticated cats and dogs. It isn't their fault that we domesticated them and took them out of their habitat or that we build in their habitat. When we continue to build in animals habitat, it leaves less land for them to live on. Therfore many are living in the cities now and unfortunately there aren't enough cat lovers and responsible pet owners to keep cats out of shelters.

I propose all states start the TNR program, where animal control traps, spays or neuters and then releases the cats back to where they were found. There are many of us animal lovers who already fo this and we feed/vet care those animals as well. That is until animal control sees them sitting on my porch and walks up and grabs them. I already have 6 cats in my house, which is 2 more than i'm allowed to have, according to city code. Another problem to address, another day.

We hear there isn't money to do this, but by doing the TNR program, the housing, food and personnel payroll would decrease immensely.

Please sign my petition, to stop the euthanizing of healthy animals and give them back the same freedoms that all other animals have, with the exception of dogs. They have a right to live!
