Protect Our Children Now

Anywhere in this nation one can find police officers. They are on duty patrolling the roads, responding to 911 calls, protecting federal buildings, escorting funeral processions, directing traffic, helping out or sponsoring charity events, and so much more. Police officers are at many high schools, and even at the local skating rink on the weekends.

What about our youngest, most vulnerable children? They go to a public building during the school year to learn from an overwhelmingly female staff, unarmed and unable to protect themselves or their students from anyone with deadly intentions. The staff at Sandy Hook had only their bodies to protect their little ones, and they gladly sacrificed their own lives, when one bullet would have stopped that madman.

There should be at least one armed police officer in every elementary, middle, and high school in the nation. If federal law requires every child to attend school, then the government has an obligation to protect every child every day. If a police officer is not feasible everywhere, then a provision has to be made to allow a rifle or pistol in every public school that can be accessed via code or key by staff members to protect themselves, and preserve the lives of the students they are entrusted to care for and return home safely each day.
