It's Time to End the Ban on Trans Soldiers!

While the ban on openly gay servicemembers has been repealed, army regulations still prohibit trans servicemembers from coming out and being open about their gender identity and expression. This is despite research that says ending the ban would enhance military readiness and unit cohesion and fulfill the army's duty of care to its soldiers. Unlike the gay servicemember ban known as DADT, there are no laws underpinning the ban on openly trans service personnel. As such President Obama, working with military leaders, has the power to end the ban himself without a lengthy battle in Congress.
