The news about yet another instance of
animal abuse in Boston is tragic.
Video footage, luckily captured by a brave bystander who was alarmed on behalf of the poor dog (named Pluto) in the video, is harrowing.
A man can be seen using his leash to whip the poor dog across its head and face over, and over, and over again. Then, it gets even more horrifying.The video shows the man screaming and swearing at Pluto, and even
lifting the sweet pup into the air using the leash attached to his collar, literally hanging him. He can also be seen
dragging Pluto's helpless body behind him on the ground.

required this man to stay away from the dog he allegedly mistreated, not own any animals, and undergo an evaluation. But they should be requiring this man to actually get mental health counseling, too. This type of behavior is scary and dangerous, and
we know that violence against animals often escalates to violence against humans. Our best bet to stop it is to get this man the help he needs.
The man repeatedly claims that he is innocent and was simply "training" Pluto while pet-sitting. But training a dog doesn't involve abusing it.
Trying to justify such violence is extremely concerning.If we want to ensure this never happens again, we've got to get this man the mental health counseling that he needs. Suffolk County must require mental health counseling for the man accused of this violent abuse!
