Demand HM Government ask its citizens if they still want to leave the European Union
The EU referendum resulted in only 32% of those entitled to vote and voting for a leave result. We are of the opinion that the referendum was wrongly worded in taking a simple majority of those voting;
that we were not given adequate in depth information as to the consequences of remaining or leaving;
that the leave and remainder campaigners relied on information that was incomplete (an example that we paid £350m a week to the EU without noting that we get a rebate of about £100m a week so we only paid £250m a week. The EU then distributes £90m a week back into the UK so the net weekly cost of our membership is £160m. This the EU uses for other countries in the union which are less wealthy than ourselves);
that we were never made aware of the complications of leaving especially the Irish border issue, domicile issues for both British and European expatriates, the risk of non-tariff barriers, the cost of funding commitments entered into prior to leaving (the so-called exit fee).
We therefor urge HM Government to provide us with better and more accurate information of the pros and cons and to seek our revised opinions.
