Say, No to an Oversized 56+ foot high Building in the heart of Playa Del Rey.

  • par: Darla Pacheco
  • destinataire: Ask Mayor Garcetti, Councilman Bonin, Neighborhood Council of Westchester and Playa Del Rey, Los Angeles City Council, West Los Angeles Area Planning Commission and the California Coastal Commission,

Legado has proposed one massive development for all 8 lots at the intersection of Culver Blvd. and Vista del Mar that is totally oversized and out of character with the area--Simply too big for the beach.

With a height of 56+ feet, the proposed building would tower over the surrounding buildings. Current Culver Blvd. buildings are generally 1 to 3 stories and much smaller in scale.  For reference, the newest building under construction at 309 Culver Blvd. is 37 feet tall- which is the maximum.   This building would be inconsistent with our community plan and will set a precedent for future developments.

The proposed development is massive:

  • A  56+-foot-high building

    •   Two levels of underground parking

    •   72 apartments

    •   14,500 square feet of retail

    •    On a nearly 2 acre site

The proposed development would bring the following negative impacts:

    •    Traffic congestion

    •    Public views blocked

    •    Noise

    •    Parking problems

It is easy to imagine a project on this site that enhances the Playa del Rey community. Unfortunately, as currently proposed at 56+ feet, this project diminishes the feel and character of this historic beach town.

By saying NO to this 56+-foot-high project, you are saying NO to the current design and asking the developers to come back with a project that is a win/win for everyone—developers, community, neighbors and visitors.

Please Save Playa del Rey Beach from this massive building and the others which will follow up and down Culver Blvd. once the precedent is set.

Save Playa del Rey Beach from Massive Development.  Say, "No"!

Dear Decsion Maker(s),

Please say, "No" to Legado's 56+ foot high building at Playa Del Rey's beach.
