The faculty at the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus recognizes a need to hire a licensed mental health professional on campus to assist students with personal issues that affect their academic success. Mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and financial insecurity, are plaguing the youth in our community. In fact, in a recent survey of Generation Z students, seventy percent reported that anxiety and depression were a major issue among their peers. As faculty, we feel a counselor on campus is critically needed to address this issue and ensure the success, health, and well-being of our students. Please sign the petition for the benefit of our students and well-being of our campus.
