MTV has stopped broadcasting music in Europe due to Paramount's vision that young people prefer to watch music on streaming platforms.
While this might be the prevailing sentiment among teens, there are MANY who began to detach and move away from social media in search for cultural beacons, such as MTV, in an attempt to cultivate musical and cultural taste, different than the "masses".
Over the last four decades, MTV practically shaped the musical and the fashion tastes of multiple generations, and it was used by independent and experimental artists to reach their public.
The channel's audience should be perceived not only as "youth", but also as active and productive viewers, in an earning age group, so with the right marketing and management, it should be perfectly able to be a sustainable business.
In an ever-divided world, there are only few human achievements of the 20th century, uniting people. MTV is one of them.
It was always the "different view", fresh, funny, feeding and shaping different musical tastes and it is a cultural heritage, which needs to be preserved for the coming generations.
