According to the World Health Organization, 1.4 billion people across the globe do not have access to clean sanitation.  Sanitation continues to remain one of the key health issues in the developing world, perpetuating disease and high rates of child mortality. About 5000 children die from diarrhoea-related diseases every day. The simple act of washing ones hands with soap and water after going to the toilet can reduce the contraction of diarrhoeal diseases by over 40%. Over 40 percent! That's amazing!  Influenza is another problem (of many) that can arise from the lack of soap and simple hand washing.The old, very young children and people of any age with chronic medical conditions are more likely to get complications from influenza, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, sinus, and ear infections, potentially leading to even more senseless deaths.  Influenza viruses can be inactivated by the use of soap. Poor sanitation also affects women by impacting their health, dignity, opportunities for education and work.  Please help save lives by signing my petition, so that I can earn more butterfly credits and send soap to those in need.
