A  53-year-old female Asian elephant named Lucky has been at the San Antonio Zoo in Texas for more than 50 years.Lucky briefly had the company of another elephant for 3 years, Queenie, who was euthanized on March 10th because of a heath problem.

You can read more about Queenie (aka Boo) here-

Now Lucky remains alone- the one surviving elephant on display at the zoo. We are asking that Lucky be retired to an elephant sanctuary. Many zoo officials have admitted- it inhumane to sustain an exhibit with a single elephant since elephants a social animals. Additionally, elephants in captivity often develope serve foot infections from standing in one spot, often on concrete and many are euthanized because of this.

In the best interest of Lucky, make a compassionate and humane decision to send her to an natural habitat elephant sanctuary where she can enjoy the company of other elephants. It has been proven elephants experience grief and there is very little doubt she will experience grief for her recently lost elephant companion, Queenie- which may effect her health adversely. Please act now before it is too late.
