Boston Public Schools wants to close the Mattahunt Elementary School because, of failing Statewide testing in MCAS and PARCC. We should not be closing schools for children based on test scores. Only in Boston are we closing schools based on test scores. We need to provide the children with the resources they need to help them succeed emotionally, academically and socially they are our Future Citizens. We need a Magnet school at the Mattahunt Elementary school that serves our Community for our children from Grades K0 to Grade 8. Please sign our petition to save our Community.

We the Students, Parents and Community member would like the Boston School Committee and The Mayor of Boston Martin J. Walsh, to keep the Mattahunt School open. We propose the school be a Magnet school as it was intended when it was built with an indoor olympic size aquatic facility, an indoor Basketball gymnasium, a wonderful theatre room for plays and musicals, a 2 level central library, a music room for all the children in the Mattapan and Greater Mattapan Community. We believe with the help of our Community Partners, Boston Public Library, Mattapan Health Center, ABCD, Mattapan Family Service Center, BYCF, Dorchester College Bound and many other community institutions we can accomplish this goal.
