Resuscitate organized Labor in the United States.

  • destinataire: To the top existing unions in the United States.

A formidable union is necessary to protect workers from bad working conditions and ensure them a liveable wage and health benefits. All workers presently protected under an extant union as well as those working in fast food outlets and the service industry who are without a union should petition the officers of the top unions to do everything possible to organize non-union employees into a labor force. A significant percentage of people have to apply for food stamps despite the fact that they are working full-time and with mandatory overtime. Twenty-five states now have Right to Work laws and God help us, Scott Walker has just thrown his hat into the ring for the presidential race of 2016. The existing unions have let the ball drop for years. There must be an aggressive campaign to bring collective bargaining back as a force and that can come most effectively if existing unions reach out in an organizing blitz. Workers who stand up for themselves often stand alone.

The anemic efforts to raise the minimum wage to $15.00 an hour are not nearly enough (left to legislators and their reluctance to reform). And the service industry whose employees rely on tips are getting away with murder!!

The coordinated walkout by fast-food workers on 11/10/15 to raise the minimum wage to $15, continues the crusade begun in 2012. This movement and the projected protests of workers in other low paid industries portends an inexorable force that has finally awakened.

Online news sources reported on 7/20/15--a Florida toll collector was fired for putting money from his own pocket into the cash register after he realized he overlooked to collect the toll on a trailer being pulled by a vehicle. Actually FIRED! for this. Where is this man's union? Once again, the psychopathic managers and bureaucrats have scored another hit. Their stupid arbitrary policy is yet another pretext to unload an employee with seniority benefits and a pension plan.
