Support The F.A.M.I.L.Y. Act to Support the Health of Our Nation
Current FMLA policies may be related to low breastfeeding rates. Women may be offered 12 weeks of unpaid leave after delivery but are unlikely to take it due to the continued need to support their family. Many women cite returning to work too soon as a reason for not breastfeeding or stopping early. The F.A.M.I.L.Y. Act provides partial paid leave that would help support women to breastfeed.
