Officer Haley is a 1987 graduate of CHS. His support and commitment to the CHS community over the past several years has been invaluable. While his presence as a uniformed officer has provided a sense of security for the students, parents and staff at the school, his role as a resource for the students and their parents has provided direction and support for for the challenges our kids face today.
We live in uncertain times where the intensity of school violence has escalated. While having a resource officer such as Kevin on the grounds of the school can't insure that violent acts will not occur, it does provide a level of security that the school has done its best to protect the safety of its students and staff. Removing this position in today's climate seems to short sighted as it removes a level of security and support that the students, parents and staff at CHS currently enjoy.
Here are just a few examples on why we need to keep Officer Haley as the resource & safety officer at CHS:
- Officer Haley has prevented unwanted intruders from entering our school
- Initiated the "Don't Text & Drive" campaign
- Is a role model and resource for our children whenever needed
- Provides a level of security should the faculty, staff & student body be threatened in any way
- Created the safety blog to help educate and inform our community on relevant safety issues
