Hate Speech Within Belle Vernon Fire Department

Joel Davis, a volunteer firefighter of Belle Vernon Fire Department has made disturbing racial comment(s) to the recent protests regarding the trail of Antwon Rose Jr. He openly shared his hateful words on WPXI Facebook page stating "They need sprayed in face by firetruck" referring to those peacefully protesting in Pittsburgh. Despite inproper grammar, his statement is clear and to the point and quit disturbing that he would wish this inhuman act upon innocent people being a volunteer firefighter in the Belle Vernon area.

A community should feel confident in knowing that their fire department will keep them safe to the best of their ability during an emergency. For someone to state an act of violence that was used during the civil rights movement shatters that confidence amongst the black community allowing room for doubt, fear, and uncertainty for their safety.

Now is the perfect time for the Belle Vernon Fire Chief to show that despite differences of opinions, one thing not tolerated is speech on violence and hateful comments that reflect upon the Fire Department disregarding their main priority which is safety. Joel Davis should be permanitly removed from Belle Vernon Fire Department immediately seeing as he not fit for public safety. With the fact he is a volunteer this will not affect his income or work place, therefore this should be dealt with quickly and affectively.
