Betsy DeVos Has It Out For Special Needs Kids

Betsy DeVos has already shown her disdain for survivors of sexual assault and for students waiting for loan relief.

Now, in her 2020 education budget proposal, she recommended cutting all federal funding for the Special Olympics, a program that allows athletes with disabilities to train and compete year-round. DeVos also proposed major funding cuts for students with special needs.

She has now reversed course on the Special Olympics de-funding, but is still proposing to slash funds for special-needs kids, as well as several other important programs, which will add up to $8.5 billion cut from the current budget. At the same time DeVos wants to add $60 million for charter schools, her pet project.

These cuts cannot go forward. Please ask Congress not to approve this appalling education budget.
