Tricare - Fix Our Concerns

- children have fewer benefit coverages than children or adults on Medicaid or Medicare and Tricare for Life mirrors Medicare coverage
- if Tricare encounters a billing issue, rather than attempting to bring resolution its rejected. Healthcare providers bill military and veterans which never resolves issues. Resolution teams need to be developed at Tricare to work the issues.
- At this time, healthcare providers are refusing to set up appointments for military, families and veterans with outstanding balances. Congress needs to enforce this practice cannot take place where federal funding is received.
- if families pay providers to obtain an appointment or because they were turned over to collections, then Tricare no longer will assume responsibility for the bill despite it being their responsibility and fault.
- Tricare doesn’t process paperwork within contractual requirements due to personnel shortages.
- Tricare doesn’t have approved healthcare providers in remote areas despite having National Guard and Reserve Centers with Active Duty families. As a result, families primary care is inordinately inconvenient or families have to pay out of pocket but yet VA centers and Medicare facilities are in the same area and could be utilized.
