“Demand an End to the Homlesseness of our Working Class Citizens in California, Now!”

Rent is on the rise while working citizens are struggling to survive. Meanwhile inflation is increasing, so is the rise of homelessness. According to the article "California Rent Increases Are Double the National Rate" by Dennis Romero, in the LA Weekly. The average national rent hike: In the last year Californians have suffered an average 4.9 percent increase versus 2.5 percent for the nation as a whole. While inflation is in the rise the minimum wage in California is only at 13.25 an hour. Which makes it impossible to not live paycheck to paycheck or survive of low income housing. The cost of living has doubled specifically in areas such as Los Angeles, according to the article "The true cost of living in Los Angeles" by Amelia Josephson in the business insider , "the average rent on a one-bedroom LA apartment is $1,949. That's almost twice the national average rent for a one-bedroom, a mere $977. Need two bedrooms in LA? Expect to pay around $2,846. Compare that to the national average two-bedroom rent at $1,196. The LA price is a whopping 137% higher."

California is now one of he largest cities with the highest homeless rates. Yet the majority of their homeless population consist on the hard working class citizens. The middle class is slowly coming to a hault and the line between poverty and working class citizens is thin. The people need a voice and this is a crisis that needs to be recognized by our governor. If something is not done now the middle class will become extinct in Los Angeles .
