Since 1943 the US military has been practicing with bombs and military weapons up at Pohakuloa training area. Pohakuloa (PTA) is located on the island of Hawaii between our largest mountains called Maunakea and Maunaloa and Hualālai.
The United States Department Of Defense is occupying 108,863 acres, which is the largest property run by the United States Army in the pacific. Inside Pohakuloa(PTA) are the habitats of a lot of endangered species like the Mamane tree and the Palila bird. Both need each other to survive and that's one of the only places that has our mamane forest growing. Pohakuloa (PTA)has the most species on the endangered list then any other land occupied by the United States Army.
Below Pohakuloa are the watersheds of our island and everyone gets their water from. Because of all the bombing, depleted uranium and radiation has been found in the soil. We live on an island so if the aquifer is polluted we all will lose our homes and our beautiful island of Hawaii. Hawaii is a beautiful place and have everything from snow to desserts and volcanos.
Please help stop the military from bombing and poisoning our waters. Please sign this petition along with others about pollution.
