If anybody has visited the animal section on the above websites recently they'll have noticed the shear volume of animals for sale, especially puppies. Every few minutes new litters are advertised or an older dog is being sold because ppl are "emigrating" or suddenly "don't have room" or have developed 'allergies'. DoneDeal have policies on the sale of animals but many of the ads break the policies and get past approval to be published, GumTree and Buy & Sell have next to no limitations. Rescues are bursting, pounds are putting animals down everyday and dogs especially are being stolen and put on sale to make quick money. Breeding and selling animals is seen as easy money, and some of the conditions they are being kept in are horrendous.
So, what can be done? These sites can stop selling animals. Full Stop. Instead advertise only dogs for adoption from established rescue centres. But they won't do this without public pressure so this is what this is about. Please help us achieve our goal of stopping to sale and trade of live animals on DoneDeal/GumTree and Buy &Sell.
