Demand that corporations do their part to curb global warming, before it's too late!

Global warming is real, and it will threaten the very existence of all life on Earth within the next 200 years. The problem with waiting until the problem is too far along ,the "tipping point", is that the process has several positive feedback pathways, that once initiated, make the process self-perpetuating in a progressive manner. If you do not feel that this is true , I would urge you to first examine your motive for this convenient dismissal. Next, look up the scientific literature for yourself. 97% of climate scientists are in overwhelming agreement on not only the existence of this phenomenon, but also the cause...human activity. It is the responsibility of all to uphold strict ecological standards , as profit seeking, bargains, and convenience pale in contrast to this issue. Since our government passes legislation with much greater frequency when our economic elite support such legislation, our situation is dire. The elite of this nation seek, as a whole, seek nothing more than advancements in profits. However, all markets will respond with an appropriate supply to meet the prevailing demand. That is where this petition comes in. We, as the consumers, need to demand ecological standards from our suppliers. The following are the criteria that we demand:

    1) Corporations will abolish 90% of their use of fossil fuels and fossil fuel based electricity. This includes coal, natural gas, propane, and gasoline. They will replace this energy with nuclear, solar, wind, paddle wheel, or manual labor. The timeline for such changes shall be graduated, with an endpoint for making the goal at ten years from the date of binding legislation.

    2) The use and/or release of all halogenated gases will be halted. The timeline for such changes will be within one year of binding legislation.

    3) Nitrous oxide emissions will be reduced by 75%, with all release of nitrous oxide being performed in a closed system and exported through/across a catalytic agent that accelerates the dissociation of the constituent components.

    4) The equalization of government subsidies to agricultural farmers whose supply chains meet an end product in animal agriculture and those growing crops for direct human consumption. We see current practices as incentivizing the consumption of meat instead of fruits and vegetables, due to making produce relatively cost prohibitive. This is important, because animal agriculture produces the majority of methane (a greenhouse gas) in the United States. Further, meat heavy diets are a highly inefficient means of feeding the populous, as 90% of the crops grown to feed an animal are used by said animal, essentially yielding a 10% energy return on these crops compared to those crops fed directly to people.

    5) The above policies will be overseen by the EPA. A quarterly online report will detail the leaders and most non-compliant for each business sector. There will also be a regularly updated database, where all companies can be searched.
