Team Papeleta Inc. is pleased to announce that it has purchased Castro Bar, a mainstay gay establishment in NYC’s Inwood area and is applying for an on-premise liquor license.
We need your support and welcome signatures on our petition and urge our supporters to direct communications and correspondence to the New York State Liquor Authority, Community Board 12, and our elected officials.
As you may be aware, the Washington Heights/Inwood area, unfortunately, has very few openly gay or gay-friendly bars and lounges as is. It is crucial to have venues where people feel safe and welcomed near their homes and in their neighborhoods. However, in order for Castro to remain open, continue to operate and better serve its clients, it needs the NYS Liquor Authority to grant its application for a liquor license which operates up until 4 am.
We, the undersigned are concerned patrons, neighbors, and advocates who support the establishment of Castro Bar at
104 Dyckman Street, New York, NY 10040, and, likewise, support the granting of a liquor license by the NYS Liquor Authority. Please email the State Liquor Authority, Community Board 12, and our elected officials. Let them know that this business is crucial in establishing a safe presence for the LGBTQ community.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Contact our local elected officials and ask them to tell the State Liquor Authority that the neighborhood and patrons support Team Papeleta Inc.'s plan to operate Castro by establishing normal hours of operation until 4 am.
