LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE Petition for Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare Board of Directors to reject the TASK FORCE Hospital Redevelopment Recommendation . (Currently Active Petition)

Whereas: The current population in the District of Muskoka is approximately 60,000 today and predicted to grow to around 73,000 during the next 10 years and has one of the lowest per capita income levels in the Province of Ontario.
Andwith the notion that a one hospital site in Muskoka was rejected prior to the Capital Plan Development Task Force .
And appreciate the hard work of the Capital Plan Development Task Force over the last 25 months, but are concerned that the recommendation of the Capital Plan Development Task Force for 2 brand new hospitals will result in the local share of the costs to be shouldered by the residents of the District of Muskoka in terms of significantly increased tax levies.

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who ask the Board of Directors for MAHC to act now to REJECT the recommendation of the Capital Plan Development Task Force to build 2 brand new hospitals, one on the existing Huntsville site and one on a new Bracebridge site. We support finding a more affordable alternative that  provides 2 full service acute care hospitals and that requires a reasonable local taxpayer shared contribution of the new facilities' gross capital costs. The residents of Muskoka need a viable public supported solution that is financially responsible, continues to support quality hospital services into the future and renews facilities more quickly than the recommendation of the MAHC Capital Plan Task Force.
