Don't Let Trump Choose Any Additional Supreme Court Justices. This Would Hurt Society, and Law and Order, for Decades.

Imagine a Supreme Court where more than half of the justices are hand-picked by Donald Trump. This could become the reality if Trump gets his way. Of the nine justices sitting on the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS), the highest court in the land, Trump has already selected three of them. That's already one-third.

But some organizations are sounding the alarm that he could get the chance to pick another two justices before his second term is finished. We have to make sure this doesn't happen.

Sign the petition to demand that the U.S. Senate stand together and refuse to confirm any further Trump Supreme Court nominees!

Two of the oldest SCOTUS justices are nearing 80 years old: Clarence Thomas (77 years old) and Samuel A. Alito Jr. (76 years old). They are already beginning to face serious health challenges. In March 2026, Alito was at a dinner when he became ill and had to be rushed to a hospital before ultimately recovering.

A Supreme Court justice is a lifetime appointment, but justices can also step down as they age. It's highly possible that either Thomas or Alito - or both - could choose to retire before Trump leaves office. Trump is almost certainly planning on that, since he would not want their seats to become vacant after he leaves office. That would give his successor an opportunity to replace Thomas and Alito with their own picks, and there is no way that Trump is willing to risk that. He wants to be sure to imprint his own legacy instead.

Trump's previous SCOTUS picks have proven to be deeply loyal to him - Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett. All three were sitting on the court when it decided to grant Trump broad presidential immunity from criminal prosecution. And all three joined in the majority opinion, agreeing that Trump should be shielded and protected.

Choosing new Supreme Court justices has huge impacts, with repercussions that can last for decades - and even for generations. It creates the ability to shape U.S. law not only in the present, but also into the future. Already, the conservative-leaning Supreme Court is handing down decisions axing environmental regulations, human rights protections, and political guardrails in ways that will have devastating ripple-effects. And if Trump is able to add one or two new justices, who could sit on the court for decades? It's unthinkable.

Luckily, Trump isn't able to just 'decide' on who he wants to sit on the Supreme Court. If any new seats open up, Trump has to run any potential new justices past the Senate. Once he nominates an individual, only the Senators can decide whether or not to approve and confirm his choice.

That means the Senate holds tremendous power here to protect the U.S. public and the world. Sign the petition to demand that Senators hold firm and refuse to confirm any new SCOTUS appointments under Trump! We must build a better world, and that means we can't let Trump influence the Supreme Court for decades to come.
