Defenseless baby sloths are being taken from the Amazon jungle to be used as a prop for the cruel tourism entertainment trade.
Right now, wild sloths are being torn from their mother's arms and exploited in the Amazon region for the wildlife selfie trade. The growing industry of wildlife selfies, where people pay to hold, hug and play with wild animals like sloths, is causing them tremendous physical and psychological suffering. While sloths look like they are smiling due to their facial markings, they are not.
Day after day, sloths are subjected to handling and severe stress while being held captive and are unknowingly hurt by tourists who don't realize the suffering they endure. Many sloths die within 6 months of being taken from their natural home.
Taking a wild animal and using it as a selfie prop condemns it to unimaginable suffering, fear, injuries and even death. The abuse needs to stop.
