Help Us Prevent Child Blindness

Up to 500,000 children go blind every year from vitamin A deficiency. And the most tragic part is that it's entirely preventable.

Vitamin A deficiency is the world's leading cause of preventable blindness in children. 44% of preschoolers in Sub-Saharan Africa are vitamin A deficient. Not only does this mean they are much more likely to go blind over the course of their lives, but they are also more likely to die before they turn five from compromised immune systems.

Helen Keller International is committed to eliminating vitamin A deficiency and ensuring that women and children all over the world have the nourishment they need to lead healthy, productive lives.

Orange sweet potatoes are especially rich in vitamin A. Eating one small orange sweet potato daily will provide a young child with enough vitamin A to keep them growing healthy and strong.

Help us combat malnutrition and its tragic consequences all around the world. Take a stand today and sign the petition to ensure no child becomes ill or goes blind from avoidable vitamin A deficiency.
