This petition is mainly for the people residing in Upstate NY in the Orange County areas like Washingtonville, Cornwall, Walden, Walkill, Hamptonburgh,New Windsor,Newburgh,Walden and Campbell Hall and any other town up in orange county It addresses the issue of the very "high school taxes" that we are forced to pay for a less than quality education for our children. Many people residing in these areas are either Senior citizens on a fixed income or in the lower income bracket and have difficulty meeting these obligations on such limited incomes. Continually rising school taxes, added to the other taxes we are forced to pay, simply add to the burden our already "over-taxed" citizens of the Upstate New York area are presently faced with.
Perhaps those that do have children, would for a period of time, consider home-schooling their children. Then the schools would see that they are not needed and either do something to bring their taxes into compliance with the local economic standards or find other ways of getting money to sustain their already over-burdened budgets. It's a sure bet that our children are not receiving a "quality education" on the support now given by our taxes, so what good will increasing these taxes do in the future?
We, the undersigned, object to the "high school taxes" levied upon us in these identified areas and petition our government officials to find other ways of securing the monies needed to operate the schools and other government entities run by taxpayer monies
