Equality in Professional Wrestling (Referees)
As the industry of Professional Wrestling continues to evolve, so does the role of women within the industry. No longer are women subjected to only being a source of 'eye candy', as they are now considered legitimate competitors within the squared circle. Many federations now promote Women's Divisions, a sign that equality is present within the business. Yet what about female referees?
We, the undersigned, support Hanna-James McCarthy in her attempt to become a full time professional wrestling referee. By signing this petition, we recognise that the wrestling industry is undergoing an evolution in its consideration of the role of women, and that change is inevitable to keep ahead in the industry.

The words 'World Wrestling Entertainment' are synonymous with the phrase 'Sports Entertainment'. For as long as they have been within the industry, the prime focus of the WWE has been to provide a high quality product for their fans; whether it be through the antics and matches of the male Superstars, or the entertainment provided by the WWE Divas both in and out of the ring. Supported by a strong roster of male referees and commentators, the performers and athletes always do their best to satisfy their fans. At present, the WWE does not have a full time female referee, nor a full time female commentator on their books.
Throughout their long tenure, the Company, though branching out within the ring, have kept the traditional roles of refereeing and full time commentary to the male sex. It is time to continue to adapt with the times, to both maintain a high fan base by bring innovative and by remaining ahead of the competition. By adopting a female official, we believe World Wrestling Entertainment will recognise the commitment women have to improving the industry, and reaffirm their commitment to their fans. signersigner
