Give people in recovery the jobs they are qualified for!!!! Stop discriminating them on there background checks!!!

I’m in recovery for 6 years. After being in a car accident in 20013 I was prescribed OxyContin for 3 years and suddenly cut off . Where that lead me is to places I never thought I’d go and do things I’d never thought I’d do. But I went to rehab got clean and lived in sober living for 2 years . I had a great job that went bankrupt 2 years ago. I’ve been looking for 2 years for a job. I have an excellent resume . I’ve worked at Fortune 500 companies and have a college education. In 2013 I was still in active addiction. I got a few shoplifting and theft charges because I used to steal baby formula and sell it to support my habit. I keep going on interview after interview getting great job offers . Once they do the background check on me they take back the offer. It’s not fair. I made mistakes . Never before or after 2013 did I get in trouble. My mistakes do not effect my work ethic. I am obviously qualified for the position why should my past mistakes take that away from me. I just want to be a productive member of society and have a good job to support myself and my daughter. Something needs to be done!!!!
