Sentenced in a secret trial, imprisoned and unable to communicate with the outside world, Uighur woman Buzainafu Abudourexiti has been sentenced to seven years for reasons her family do not know.
The Chinese authorities took Buzainafu Abudourexiti from her parents' home in March.
Her detention comes at a time when the Chinese authorities are cracking down on Uighurs, an ethnic minority group that the government has persecuted for decades.
At the time of her arrest Buzainafu Abudourexiti was newly married and about to join her husband in Australia where they could begin their lives together. They were expecting their first child.
Buzainafu Abudourexiti's husband and family believe that she is no longer pregnant.
No one has been able to communicate with her since she was taken. All her family know is that she has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
The Uighur are an ethnic minority group in China. For decades the Chinese authorities have targeted, detaining and imprisoning them without trial, banning the Uighur language and imposing severe restrictions on freedom of religion.
Buzainafu Abudourexiti is at grave risk. Call on the Chinese authorities to release her immediately.
