Keep an Eye on Newly Elected Politicians

On November 2, Americans swept in a whole new crop of politicians -- many of them extremists and tea party sympathizers -- to local, state and national offices.

Given the degree of the rout, these newly elected officials will have a huge amount of power -- which could have serious consequences for our economy, our environment, our health and more. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) says that "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president," but it's likely that's just the beginning.

Now more than ever, we need an independent press to keep an eye on the politicians.
