There is no dedicated government funding for the type of support that Rainbow Trust Children's Charity has been providing, free of charge, for the last 37 years.

Our Family Support Workers help families both practically and emotionally, so they don't have to manage alone, while they go through some of the toughest challenges they will ever face. Our support can be the difference between a family coping or falling apart.

Romeo is now four. He has a serious heart condition and requires care 24 hours a day. Donna, Romeo's mum, was told that he was unlikely to see his first birthday.

With the rising cost of living Donna is under enormous financial pressure, so Family Support Worker Lilia helps Donna cope with the challenges of having a seriously ill child, and all the other worries that life is throwing at them.

Donna told us: "I often lay awake worrying about debt and bills and, when the time comes, how am I going to afford a funeral for him. I'm constantly in a state of anxiety."
