Tell Your Senators To Reject Keystone XL Now
The U.S. Senate could vote as early as Tuesday to force President Obama to build the disastrous Keystone XL pipeline. We urgently need your help to make sure that doesn't happen.
The 1,700-mile pipeline would, every day, carry up to 35 million gallons of oil strip-mined from Canada's "tar sands" -- some of the dirtiest, most climate-hostile fuels on the planet. One leading climate scientist says Keystone XL will be "game over" for our ability to avoid a climate catastrophe.
It would also cut through rivers, streams, and wildlife habitat for at least 20 imperiled species, including whooping cranes and pallid sturgeon.
If we're going to stop Keystone XL in its tracks, we need to show massive opposition. That means calling on our senators to reject an amendment that cuts the public out of the process and immediately allows Keystone XL to move forward.

Please reject any Senate effort to approve the Keystone XL pipeline. The debate over climate science is over. Climate change is real, it is happening now, and Keystone XL's dirty tar-sands oil is going to make it much worse.

Keystone XL is yet another special-interest giveaway to Big Oil that allows the industry to reap all the profits, while Americans, our wildlife and our treasured wild places shoulder all the costs.
Extraction and refinement of tar-sands oil produces two times more greenhouse gases per barrel than conventional oil and represents a massive new source of fossil fuel pollution. Leading climate scientist Dr. James Hansen has called Keystone XL "game over" for our ability to avoid a climate catastrophe.
TransCanada's existing Keystone I pipeline has reportedly leaked 14 times since it went into operation in June 2010, including one spill of 24,000 gallons. The State Department admits that Keystone XL could spill up to 100 times during its lifetime.
Please stand up to Big Oil in the Senate and reject any legislative effort to force President Obama to approve this disastrous project.
