Schools are an integral part of our communities. They bring together neighbors, friends, family, and educators to achieve a common goal: providing the best education possible for the children in our lives.

But today, too many students aren't getting the support they deserve, and it's a challenge to figure out what's needed to help all students reach their highest potential. A lot goes into a good education, from great teachers and well-rounded curriculum to a safe and supportive school community.

Bureaucrats and elected officials shouldn't have the last word on the decisions that affect our students. They don't know our schools like we do. We -- the educators, parents, and community members surrounding a school -- know what our kids need because we are there with them every day. We must make our voices heard and work together to ensure that our schools are the getting resources they need.
