Get Big Oil Out of North Dakota's Voting Process!

North Dakota's oil industry is drastically influencing elections by bringing in an overflow of out-of-state voters that could determine who wins the close race for senate.
North Dakota is the only state that doesn't have voter registration. Any citizen over 18 and living in the same place for 30 days can cast a vote. This free-for-all voting method is meant to accommodate the state's large population of oil workers, many of whom work out of state and travel home to see their families.
The oil industry is going out of its way to encourage workers to vote, and both 2012 Senate candidates campaigned excessively at oil camps. About 4,300 new voters have been added to North Dakota's state voter database in the nine biggest oil counties -- a huge population that could make or break any future Congressional race in favor of pro-oil candidates. And that's not good for democracy or the environment.
Tell North Dakota: Get big oil out of the voting process!
Dear Governor Jack Dalrymple,
When Big Oil has such controversial ties to political races everywhere--North Dakota shouldn't be moving mountains to make sure an influx of oil industry workers flood into the state's polling places.
Please stop making the election so vulnerable to Big Oil. The senate campaigns have become more about winning over out-of-state oil workers than about the best interests of the general population.
Republican voter registration efforts and campaign platforms are both focusing their recruitment on oil worker camps--and why wouldn't they with up to 4,300 new voters added to North Dakota's state voter database in the nine biggest oil counties? It's completely corrupt that a state's race for senate could be slyly determined by the oil industry.
