Subject: My Medicare Advantage Works, Protect It!

Dear [Member of Congress],

As your constituent and an advocate for Better Medicare Alliance, I urge you and other Members of Congress to continue to support the quality, affordable health coverage for seniors found in Medicare Advantage.

Today, Medicare Advantage provides the innovative, value-based care that 26 million seniors and people with disabilities rely on. As a leading provider of health coverage for seniors, more than 40 percent of Medicare beneficiaries have chosen Medicare Advantage – giving it a 98% consumer satisfaction rate.

Beneficiaries choose Medicare Advantage for a number of reasons, but most often because of the value of the care they receive through programs that cover their hospital visits, primary care, and prescription drugs in one monthly premium, often with extra benefits.

Medicare Advantage beneficiaries have a 43% lower rate of avoidable hospitalization and report an average savings of nearly $1,600 each year, compared to Traditional Medicare, with half of beneficiaries paying no premium at all.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Medicare Advantage has met consumer needs with innovative supplemental benefits unavailable in Traditional Medicare. And today, Medicare Advantage serves a higher proportion of beneficiaries who identify as racial and ethnic minorities than Traditional Medicare (33.7% to 16%).

Lawmakers have long recognized the value that seniors and people with disabilities receive from Medicare Advantage – in fact 75% of Congress affirmed their support for Medicare Advantage just last year – but they need more supporters and co-sponsors to strengthen their efforts.

Please act today to protect, support, and strengthen the bipartisan Medicare Advantage success story that 26 million Americans rely on.
