Every two minutes, a woman somewhere in the world dies from complications during pregnancy and childbirth which might have been prevented if they'd had access to basic health care and a trained midwife. Poor health and poverty go hand-in-hand – 99% of maternal deaths happen in developing countries.
We should be outraged. And we should be doing something about it.
That's why CARE is committed to making sure more women have access to the antenatal support they need to prevent needless deaths.
Will you stand with us to fight for healthy mothers and children?
Improving maternal care will not only benefit mothers, it's also a key way to reduce poverty for entire communities. Because when women and families have access to information and services to help bring a child safely into the world, everyone benefits. Maternal mortality rates drop, children are healthier and better educated, incomes rise and families are more resilient to crises like a natural disaster.
Please sign our pledge if you believe that every woman and child deserves the right to access basic health care which could save their lives.
