Tell Facebook & Twitter: Stop Election Lies Now

Lies about the 2020 election results are intensifying. Attempts by administration officials, pundits and Republican lawmakers to spread disinformation and discredit the election outcome — despite a total lack of evidence — are providing Trump with cover as he does everything he can to prevent a peaceful transfer of power.

And social-media platforms, despite some efforts to curb disinformation, are largely acting as amplifiers for propaganda and hate. We can fight the rapid spread of disinformation. But Facebook's response — adding weak content warnings and allowing messages to be shared — allows threats to our democracy to flourish. And as Trump continues to tweet false claims, his repeated violations are still reaching hundreds of thousands of people.
