Stop the unfair taxation of Domestic Partnership healthcare benefits

It seems as if marriage rights for same-sex couples is going to continue to be a fight. Many states already have gay marriage bans in their constitution, and that list continues to grow.  Unfortunatly.

However, private organizations realize that in order to attract the best labor force they must offer equal rights.  Many companies today offer their gay employees the ability to apply for same-sex healthcare benefits.  

The problem is the government currently taxes domestic partnership healthcare benefits as income. This is unfair as millions of same-sex couples do not have the right to get married.

This issue often causes gay people to enter into a higher tax bracket. 

Opposite Sex married couples do not pay income tax on their healthcare benefits.

There are over 1400 federal benefits that same sex couples can't obtain. This is merely one of them.

Fiscal Conservatives claim that high on their agenda is lower taxation.  Social Liberals claim that high on their agenda is equality and fairness.  
This petition brings together both goals for common good of mankind.
