Encourage Companies to Release their Killer Whales

In the wild, killer whales can swim up to 100 miles per hour! In the captivity, they can swim in circles. Captivity is doing them no good, and ones at SeaWorld are showing the signs: an experienced trainer was drowned by an undoubtedly fed up killer whale! Help release these intelligent creatures back into the wild by signing this petition!

We the undersigned, understand your concern for your trainers, as well as the animals you keep under your care. However, captivity of certain animals cannot be related to captivity of domesticated animals. We believe that the killer whales kept secluded from their natural habitat at your SeaWorld parks in San Diego, CA and Orlando, FL, should be released back to the wild.

There are various reasons for our belief. First, killer whales deserve to feel the rush of the waters as they race with their family and friends at high speeds, something which is limited by their confinement at your parks. Also, while their treatment continues to be humane, forced training could also be seen as thought hindrance. Killer whales are extremely intelligent animals, and daily routines created by people they cannot communicate with is unhealthy.

Secondly, research has shown that it is not uncommon for released animals to regain their natural instincts, even after being held in captivity for prolonged periods of time. Proper mental and physical conditioning could bring them back to a state at which they would be ready to survive in the wild enough for them to adapt and truly thrive.

As for the arguement concerning captive-born versus captured killer whales, one must note the psychological impact being taken from one's home must have been like. The conscious of the species is very adept, and such an event would have made a large psychological impact on a creature. This was shown, as many have duly noted, on various occasions as of recent times.

We acknowledge your regard for the happiness and safety of many, and hope for the success of the concern for killer whale happiness. Thank you for your time and concern in reading this letter.
