President Obama at his inauguration made an eloquent speech. In this speech he embraced the environment for one of only a handful of times during his tenure. It is not enough just to speak the walk- he must now walk the walk. There would be no better a display of commitment to our planet than for him to veto the Keystone Pipeline. To do otherwise would be a slap in the face of all those who are concerned about the future of the Earth and life on it. Shale oil is perhaps the dirtiest of all oils. It's consumption will send a larger volume of carbon dioxide into our air than even regular oil. It's mining and pipeline transit will extremely ruinous to the lands involved. The oil must be heated to be transported as it is so thick. Shale oil is very energy inefficient to produce and transport. And the final insult is that most of the oil produced will be sold overseas. It is an ill conceived venture.. Please President Obama, help save life on Earth by wisely passing on the horrific Keystone Pipeline.

I hope that this is not too annoying but I am sending this out as I believe it is time for our President to commit, in earnest, to fighting against climate change. To allow the Keystone Pipeline to go forward would be true folly. A folly based only on greed, initial easiness, and poor vision. The project would be a commitment to dirty energy well into the future. Such a commitment, I believe, will insure that change from dirty energy will be greatly and disastrously delayed.
