US Border Patrol Fired Deadly Tear Gas at Mothers and Children

The photos show the unthinkable. Mothers with young children — several barefoot and still in diapers — fleeing in panic as they try to escape painful tear gas fired at them by U.S. Border Agents.

Only days after Thanksgiving, a caravan group of refugees finally arrived at the U.S. / Mexico Border to peacefully seek asylum, but instead were met with chaos and horror when Mexican Police and U.S. Federal Agents had shut down the border crossing in both directions. Border Patrol then fired tear gas — a chemical weapon so deadly that it's been banned in international warfare — into the crowd as some refugees ran to the San Diego border fence.

Videos and photos taken at the scene show young children and babies screaming after being exposed to the toxic chemicals. One women who grabbed her young daughters to escape the gas cloud told Buzzfeed News, "I thought my kids were going to die with me."

Despite the Trump Administration's constant attempts to villainize and demonize the migrant caravan, federal law states that it's completely legal for refugees to seek asylum in the U.S. These families have left their homes in desperation and walked hundreds of miles to escape unspeakable violence.

It's inexcusable that the U.S. Government would purposefully attack asylum seekers with deadly force. Even more shameful, Homeland Security secretary, Kirstjen Nielsen, has defended her agency's use of chemical weapons — saying that this level of response was acceptable against the perceived "lawlessness" of the asylum seekers.

Join us in calling on Homeland Security secretary, Kirstjen Nielsen to RESIGN after her agency's shameful and inexcusable act of deadly force against innocent people.

This horrific act against innocent children and families by the U.S. Government is reprehensible and we cannot allow it to become normalized. Please sign and share today.
